Chapter 10

Yaliana yawned and stretched before hissing as she moved her injured leg. Unfortunately, Ulissa had no more supplies to change the dressing. She hoped the wound wouldn’t get infected.

“You’re awake already?” asked Yaliana.

“Yes, the dawn sunlight woke me.”

“I’m just used to it, I guess. Let’s get some grub, shall we?”

The rations were in packs that self-heated when shaken, so it was easy to make breakfast. The coffee pouches were ready first, and Ulissa thankfully opened one and gulped its contents. The scrambled eggs were beginning to grow on her after several days in the wild.

Their meagre breakfast was over quickly, and Ulissa scanned the area for animals. She couldn’t see any dangerous ones—none of the armoured type, at least—although the venomous types were usually hard to see anyway..
