“Unfortunately, my map was drawn on paper and dissolved when we jumped in the river. And it’s not as if I memorized it.”

“How did you manage to make a map of the jungle anyway? No one else managed to do it, but you did.”

“I used drones.”

“But that was attempted before. It failed, because animals kept attacking them.”

“I experienced the same problem, and tried several things before my drones were accepted into the forest without being attacked and destroyed. What eventually worked was squeezing out the pheromone glands on the pterodactyl’s bodies and coating my drones in it.”

“Pterodactyls have pheromone glands?” asked Yaliana, wrinkling her nose. “Ew.”

“I discovered this through a dissection of one of the bodies. I accidentally burst it all over me. Actually, I—”

Yaliana put up her hand to silence her as she suddenly smelled something sweet. “What’s that?” she asked, taking in another great lungful. “It smells like…”
