Her head broke through, and she blinked in the sunlight, trying to adjust to the brightness of the day. Then, when she looked around, she gasped.
There was an absolutely huge tree not too far away. It was as thick around as about ten ordinary trees, and the ordinary trees weren’t exactly small. It broke through the canopy and soared into the air. She wondered why she hadn’t seen it before with her drones and knew she had to get to it now.
Ulissa took the compass out of her bag and marked the tree’s position. She should be able to find it, even if she was a little bit off, because of its massive size. Ulissa sensed that if she could get to that tree, everything would turn out all right. She didn’t know how she knew that; it was just a feeling in the pit of her stomach.
