He offered her a grateful smile. “That too. But accidents happen.”

“Wait.” Jorge popped up from the floor, phone abandoned. “Does that mean we can touch you now?”

“Wow, way to sound dirty,” Kate said.

Chase eyed Jorge warily. “Uh, in ways that friends do, yeah. Probably.”

A second later he had a lap full of delicately arranged Jorge hugging him. It was nice, and warm, and he realized he’d been missing Trevor’s hugs. He hugged back.

Jorge released an “awww” with a sigh and snuggled closer.

“Are you taking pictures?” Kate asked.

Rita hummed in the positive. “I was thinking of sending them to Trevor.”

“No,” Chase said. “We’re not faking something to make him jealous.” He eased out of the hug, but didn’t kick Jorge off his lap, because now that he was touching someone, he needed to keep doing it. “I just want him to realize on his own what’s wrong with wanting to fix me.”

Kate nodded. “We figured. That’s why we didn’t tell him specifically what made him a shithead.”
