“You’re still a stickler for punctuality, aren’t you?”

Jonas snickered. “Yeah.”

“You used to do that to me many times before.”

“That was a long time ago now,” Jonas reminisced while accepting a steaming cup of chamomile tea from Carson. “Thank you for the tea and cookies.”

“You’re welcome,” Carson said as he sat on the chair across the table from Jonas. “Before we start on the official business, there’s something else I want to clear with you.”

“What’s that?”

“An apology.”

Jonas certainly didn’t expect that. “For what?”

“For breaking up with you eighteen years ago,” Carson replied, and Jonas was shocked upon hearing that. “I know I’ve hurt you real bad, and I’m sorry about that. There’s no excuse for what I did. I was a selfish jerk for inflicting so much pain on you—”

“Why did you do it then?”
