Racks upon racks upon racks of silver and gold weapons lined the far wall, as far down as Zeke could see. The swords and spears he figured would be here, but there were others, weapons he knew nothing about, not even their names. A particular one, it had a long handle like a spear and a massive blade at one end, made Zeke pale. Just the sight of that thing made him uneasy.

Fingers slid along his shoulder until the curve of it rested in a warm palm. Zeke tore his eyes away and finally started to hear Haziel again. The angel’s mouth was pinched in a worried line. “Are you all right?”

“Yeah,” Zeke breathed out. He swallowed hard, trying to will his mouth to moisten up. “Yeah. What’s going on?”

“I asked if you had a particular preference for your gear?” Those unbelievable eyes had him pinned to the spot.
