He tried Colin’s place first. Stupid and obvious, but he needed to try just to be sure. No luck. He gave school a shot next. Stopped at the campus coffee shop to ask if anyone had seen him. No one had. Dexter went to some of their places. Nothing. The bar from Halloween. No. The diner from Halloween. Nope. Some of the bars Colin came to see them perform at. No Colin. Places they had sex at. Empty.


Dexter called and called and called Colin’s phone. Went straight to voicemail every time. Everyone was probably trying to do that anyway. He even called Jadyn. Crazy, but worth a shot.


“No, Dex, I…” She paused. “If I hear from him you’ll be the first to know, okay?”


“Yeah.” This was the first time they’d spoken since they argued. “Jadyn, I…I’m…”
