Chapter 59

“He didn’t come to see you. He came to see me.”

Arliss didn’t know how to respond to that. He simply went back into the bedroom, slammed the door behind him, and turned the lock. Yes, it was Josh’s bedroom, but so what? He figured that monster probably didn’t do human things like sleep, anyway. He hurried to the window, hoping to catch a glimpse of Sean outside, but all that faced him was the black night pressing up against the windows, as though it was hungry to get inside.

Now what?Sean wondered as he paced outside Josh Tyler’s building. He’d had a pretty good idea he couldn’t just waltz into the lobby, announce himself, and be greeted with open arms. Even though he had expected to be rebuffed, he had to try the first, most logical route in his attempts to get to Arliss.
