Chapter 33

He wasn’t sure what he would do if Leon refused to even consider it. Part ways with Leon? Kenneth couldn’t tolerate that thought. Even for Amy.

When Amy ducked into her bedroom, Kenneth wished he could follow her. He just wanted to hold her, but he suspected the time for that would come. Sooner or later. Once he was alone with Leon, he dragged the chair back to the table so they could talk. Leon’s knowing smirk was back, but Kenneth cut him off before he could say anything.

“We need to talk about what we’re going to do.”

Leon leaned back in his chair, only cocking a single brow. “Really? ‘Cause looks to me, you’ve gone and fixed things back up with our nice widow lady already. So long as you keep her walking funny, we should be good until we’re ready to go.”

“How long do you think it’ll be safe to stay here?”
