Chapter 39

“I can’t reach over without pulling on my leg,” Dustin admits.

“Here, let me.” Ronan walks around the bed and gets Dustin’s pills for him.

“It’ll hurt more while it’s fresh. As soon as it starts to scab it’ll hurt less. Can I check to see if you have a temperature?” Ronan asks.

“You brought a thermometer?” Dustin asks.

“No, but I can usually tell without one,” Ronan offers.

Dustin nods “Okay. Probably best to make sure I’m not getting sick from the dog bite.”

Ronan leans in toward Dustin and pushes Dustin’s hair gently off his forehead with one hand, and then he presses his other hand to Dustin’s forehead.

“You don’t feel too hot, even with the heat on,” Ronan says, dropping his hand.

“You don’t make a bad nurse,” Dustin says, glancing at Ronan’s mouth; he has nice, strong-looking lips.
