Chapter 47

“It’s really weird the way it bleeds like that. Like the thing isn’t scary enough, it cries blood? I thought human criminals were bad enough, I don’t know how you deal with monsters.” Dustin shakes his head.

“It’s kind of funny that you find monsters so weird when you’re weird to most people. Not to be insulting. Just it’s not every day you meet a psychic.” Ronan has met psychics before, but not quite like Dustin, not as powerful, or with his exact abilities, like being able to bend small bits of metal or read the emotions in a room.

“What was the first supernatural thing you saw? Was it on a case?” Dustin asks.

Ronan feels his blood freeze at the question. And images of Sarah fill his mind.

“I’d rather not talk about that.” Ronan is glad his voice doesn’t shake, but he thinks the strain shows in it.

“Of course, don’t worry,” Dustin says.
