He feels a searing pain in his neck, and when he opens his eyes, he is face-to-face with a demon. Dustin knows he’s not really in the room with it, it’s not really biting him, but it feels real. He can see its flat nose, its crinkled, bat-like face—he can see its glowing red eyes. His heart starts to race, and his fear mixes with Charlotte’s.
Dustin can see the room, the cages, the dirt floor, the stairs leading up to the door. Dustin tries to take in as many details as possible, but he only sees inside. And then, once again, he feels Charlotte die, feels her fear fading along with her life force, and then he’s back in his body in the morgue.
