Chapter 78

He wants to ask Dustin to stay, but he doesn’t want to face rejection, and he also doesn’t want Dustin in his world—it’s too dangerous. He wants Dustin to go back to his safe life, helping abuse victims and animals.

“‘Quick fling?’” Dustin repeats, looking at Ronan with a hard-to-read face.

Ronan just nods, because that’s what it was. He might want it to be more, but it was like a one-night stand that got extended really, and Ronan would be a fool to read more into it.

“Funny, I thought I’d made a friend. And I thought you’d changed. You haven’t changed.” Dustin shakes his head.

“Don’t act like this is something it’s not. We both got what we wanted at the time. And now it’s over,” Ronan says, harshly. He feels like an asshole.
