Rose patted her shoulder. “Thank you for—”

“Don’t you dare tell him we talked.” And she seized Rose’s wrist in a bony, strong grip

“I won’t.”

The woman eased. “All right. Thank you.” And she let go.

Within an hour, Rose had managed to talk to two more women who were feeding the vampire. Both of these had their addiction mitigated to some degree, although they didn’t get much in the way of other benefits.

Rose resolved to take these to the vampire in question. He was helping but not enough to offset what he took from them.

As she was getting back to her violin playing, Ama approached her. The other werewolf was livid. “What exactly have you been doing? You’re supposed to be playing, not socializing.”

“I was meeting some of the people,” Rose defended herself.
