Chapter 6

Brenton doesn’t mind interviews, but he likes to be able to talk about his life with people just for the sake of it, because they want to know, to get to know him, not because they want a story. Every member of the band has had stories written about them. Jed being lead singer gets the most media attention, and he and Donnie as a couple get a ton.

Brenton is careful about what ends up in papers and online about him because of his family. His grandparents may have passed, but his parents and aunts and uncles are still around, and they follow his career closely. Every time he’s mentioned by the media, they know about it. If he embarrassed himself, they’d know, and worse, if he embarrassed them, the next time he came home would be awkward as fuck.

“I think you’d have been a good teacher, but you’re a better drummer. I’m glad we stole you away from a sensible life,” Penny says happily.
