They find a table outside in the coffee shop’s walled-in garden, and all order different coffees. They’re chatting and drinking their second coffee about half an hour later when a ghost from their past appears.
Bert, the original guitarist of Black Lace. Jed’s one-time lover, and the man that outed him. One of bodyguard with them goes to step between them, but Jed shakes his head.
“How did you know we were here?” Jed asks. The two guards start to stand again and Jed waves them off. Brenton guesses he doesn’t want a bigger scene.
“I saw you on some news site on Twitter. I’m not stalking you. That’s why I’m here. Did you accuse me of stalking you? The police came to my house,” Bert says angrily.
Bert is looking better than when Brenton last saw him, like maybe he’s clean at the moment. Brenton wonders how long that’ll last. Because Bert was into heavy into drugs the whole time he was in the band, and the news has made it clear his issues have lasted past his time in the band.
