Myles leaned back too, turning to gaze at me.
“You’re funny,” I breathed.
“And you’re so fucking beautiful,” he said, the words sounding completely new and exciting to me.
I swallowed the lump in my throat. “Thank you…”
“I should, um, eat something.” He sat up straight and shot me a quick glance. “You hungry?”
“Not really, but Spence is on his way and he might want a snack.” I touched Myles’s shoulder. “Myles?”
He looked over at me. “Yeah?”
“Nick and I are really happy you’re here.” I wanted to say more but didn’t want to make him uncomfortable. “You make everything a little easier.”
“He doesn’t mind me being here?” He sat at an angle again, facing me. “Are you sure?”
“First of all, let me tell you something about Nick. If he didn’t want you here, you’d know. Trust me. There’s nothing passive aggressive about him. He’s like a picture book. What’s on the page is the story. That’s it.”
