After Derek had stepped into the washroom, I went straight back to Myles, and sat across from him, checking the hallway every other second. “Listen, don’t tell him. Don’t say anything, okay? He doesn’t know. He has no clue. He thinks it’s meyou want.”
With a shaky hand, Myles reached for his glass and drained the contents in one quick gulp. He was blushing, obviously embarrassed.
I felt for him. “Hey…It’s okay.”
For a while he didn’t say anything. Then he sighed. “Why are you doing this?”
“Because I know that deep down inside, Derek wants you too. And in his strange passive style, this is the only way he can act on his desires without betraying me. By letting me into the loop, he gets to finally have you.”
“God, Nick, what if you’re wrong?” Myles shook his head. “I never said anything. Not one word. Because I can’t lose him.”
“You won’t.”
“How can you be cool with this?”
