“Did Dominique go up to bed?”

Gideon nodded. “She lasted as long as she could, but I think everything’s finally catching up with her.”

“I’m not surprised. This might be the first time she’s been comfortable since Michelle took her from Chicago.”

“Mum’s got a knack for it,” JT said with a smile. “When I met David, he was this workaholic solicitor who didn’t know how to take a vacation to save his life. The first weekend I got him here, I had to bribe him to get him back to London.”

Jesse grinned. “Falling for a workaholic? I’m shocked. Hopefully we won’t have to bribe Dominique to go home. We have a pretty narrow window here, don’t we?”

“The most I can give you is five days. Which really doesn’t seem like all that much, considering how much ground we have to cover.”

It didn’t to Gideon, either, but he refrained from expressing his doubt. Positive attitudes. That’s what they needed right now.

“What about those books Jess brought with us?” he asked. “Will those help?”
