Jesse didn’t know if it was a result of passing time, his training, or both, but each time he left JT’s flat, he became more hyperaware of the dimensional walls. Not just the weak spots. There were literally layers of reality surrounding them. They shimmered, changed colors, shifted. The dimension seemed to be a living specimen, evolving and responding to him. He couldn’t stop seeing them. It was a strange double vision. JT must have seen it, too, but he didn’t mention it. Maybe he didn’t even notice it anymore. Jesse would have asked about it, but JT always responded with a combination of shock and confusion, and even pity, when Jesse asked straightforward questions.
