Chapter 24

He decided to focus on dishing up and was just slipping the third sandwich onto one of Trev’s pottery plates when the man himself appeared in the kitchen doorway.

“What’s this?” Lifting up the top slice of country wheat bread, his eyes widened when he saw the thick slabs of meat and fresh vegetables piled beneath it. “Did you order these?”

“No, I hit up the grocery store.” To hide his pleased smile, he turned toward the coffee machine and grabbed the empty pot to fill it with water. “I wasn’t sure what you might have in, so I picked up some supplies.”

“Let me do that.” Their fingers brushed as Trev took the pot away from him, but when Jett tried to resume finishing the lunch details, Trev stopped him. “You really didn’t have to go to all this trouble. I could’ve just fixed tuna sandwiches or mac and cheese or something when I got in.”

“I told you I was going to feed you, and I meant it.”
