Chapter 35

They were piling their plates with food when Megan brightened and gestured toward the entrance. “Rocky made it! You’ve got to come over and say hi with me. He wouldn’t stop talking my ear off when I told him you were coming.”

“Oh, we met him at the airport already,” Tatum said. “Nice guy, but you sure grow ‘em big down here. Most of the men I haven’t become invisible to back in New York only grow out.”

“You’re in luck then. He’s divorced.” She started to head toward Rocky, then paused to cast a doubtful frown at Jett. “Do you mind if I steal Tatum away for a minute? Rocky will just love her.”

He waved them off. “Go ahead. I’m starving anyway.”

But as he ate, he watched the new trio form, gelling into the perfect little group from the moment Rocky smiled down at Tatum. Inwardly, he sighed. Some things never changed after all.

Because here he was, the so-called talk of the town, and he was still the one standing alone.
