Chapter 37

Inwardly, he groaned. He’d warned Tatum that Dominic would be the more difficult of the two, so he understood why she’d send him to Jett instead of risking him in front of Rocky, but that didn’t make the prospect of the next half hour stuck in the car with his unpleasant personality that much easier to stomach.

Keeping up the act in case Rocky was watching, Jett hopped out of the car to open the trunk. Dominic surprised him by smiling as he approached, his hand at the ready in greeting.

“You must be Mr. Walker.” His voice was a tad too loud and nothing like the bitchy crispness Jett remembered. Even the handshake seemed warm. “I’m Dominic Vela. Thanks so much for the ride.”

Jett was more than eager to play this game. “It’s my pleasure.”

Without asking, he picked up Dominic’s black suitcase and slid it into the trunk, while Dominic went around to the passenger side and got in. The act continued after he got behind the wheel and followed Rocky out of the garage and toward I-264.
