Chapter 30

As they left the theater, Brandon positioned himself in the middle once again, watching Caryn as she wound through the people. Had she kept her room for an extra night? They could probably go upstairs. Though, he was playing with fire, and he knew it. Of course, he had been playing with fire since the second she sauntered over to his table, looking for a bit of fun. They pushed through, moving away from the box office and toward the casino floor without pausing, without speaking. Not that there was much to say. Nothing that couldn’t wait until they were alone.

The tap on his shoulder pulled him out of his thoughts. He expected to see Seth smiling at him with some wicked new plan, but instead, he saw Alice. The pit boss.

“You should have stayed away from the floor tonight,” she said.

“What? Why?”

“Karl has been looking for you.”

Caryn had stopped and was watching the exchange, but it was Seth who pressed closer to his side. “It’s Brandon’s night off.”
