Including Caryn and Seth. He needed some time to process everything before he even thought about talking to them. Instead of walking to the bar, he turned and headed toward the exit on the opposite side of the casino.

Every second Brandon was gone was another Seth was left fidgeting in the chair next to Caryn. He couldn’t stop watching in the direction Brandon had disappeared, eliciting more than one wry comment from Caryn, though when she pressed to find out why he was worried, Seth blew her off.

“It’s probably just a schedule change,” he said. “Those happen all the time.” A lie, but an easy one to tell.

When an hour had passed and neither one of their phones had rung, Seth finally pulled his out and tried Brandon’s number. It went straight into voice mail. It did the same thing when Caryn tried. He saw Alice wandering through the tables, but when he tried to catch her attention, she studiously turned away.
