“Lead the way,” she said.

Seth didn’t speak as they left her room. She would have welcomed the silence, but she didn’t like the way Seth was turning inward. Perhaps he was imagining all the ways the meeting could go wrong. Perhaps he was worried that Brandon would kick him out for good. Perhaps he was trying to imagine a life without his boyfriend. Regardless of what he was thinking, she was not invited to share those thoughts.

Not until they were in his car. “I still don’t know what I’m going to tell him about the money.”

“Is that because you haven’t decided which you want more?”

“No. Because I don’t see why I can’t have both. Why we can’t have both. Neither of us are employed. Our lives would be easier if we weren’t starting broke.”

“You’re not completely broke. You still have your off-shore accounts.”

“Maybe I like a bit of a cushion, too.”
