“Who does Chogan think Elijah is in love with? Eli hasn’t said anything to me.” Joshua frowns.
“Chogan has this stupid idea that Elijah is in love with me,” Jayden admits.
“You don’t think he’s right?” Joshua doesn’t look or sound surprised by what Jayden has admitted.
“No. He can’t be.” Jayden shakes his head.
“Why can’t he?” Joshua asks.
“He just can’t. He thinks of me as his little brother. He still sees me as the kid he found hiding under the bed.”
“I think Elijah is aware you’re no longer a child. Have you tried talking to him? Telling him how you feel?” Joshua asks, and the words seem foreign coming from him, more suited to a talk-show host than a gruff hunter.
“You must be crazy. I’d rather lick nettles.” Jayden snorts.
“You’re as stubborn as a damn mule. Don’t you think it might help to clear the air? Maybe you should sit down with him and Chogan, just all talk. A bit of honesty might do the three of you good,” Joshua says.
