“Come on. It’s time to move out.”
Derek was the first to stride over, Jonah at his side. “What’s this?” When Jesse quickly gave him the rundown, he shook his head. “I’m not going. Get Jonah out of here, but you’re going to need as much manpower as you can get.”
“If you’re staying, I’m staying,” Jonah argued. His eyes darted to Jesse. “I can use any one of those weapons you showed me if I have to.”
Jesse hesitated. On the one hand, he trusted Derek, and God knew he was right. They would need manpower. On the other hand, he had no idea how Gideon would react to the two of them moving around the house. Especially somebody as young and pretty as Jonah. He didn’t mind gambling with his own life, and Emma was far too precious to Gideon to be at risk, but he wasn’t so sanguine about putting his friends in danger.
