Chapter 27

“I am. And that’s for a good reason. Luke is my nephew, I’m the reason he’s here in the first place. And I didn’t send him to Richmond to get pawed at by some lecherous professor. I sent him here so he could get an education and focus on his career. You’re going to let him do that.”

“No one’s stopping Luke from doing anything hewants to do.” Nick raised an eyebrow, letting Driscoll draw his own conclusions from Nick’s careful emphasis. “He’s twenty-one. He has the right to make his own choices in life.”

“He’s young. You’re blandishing him with power and wealth. I don’t care that he’s gay, so am I. But what I do care about is you and that pretty boy model of yours using him, distracting him, and then throwing him aside when you’re done with him. You’re going to go off and adopt and settle down somewhere and then he’ll have wasted all of his potential on nothing.” Driscoll jabbed his thick, calloused finger into the desk.
