“Now who needs to think about motives here?” Nick chuckled. “Remember what Luke has told us about his living situation. His uncle is almost certainly doing him a favor. We’ve done the same thing, remember?”
Evan exhaled. Nick was right, but he didn’t have to like it. “I know. Sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry. We both want to protect our guy. It’s normal.” Nick leaned in to kiss him, his taste all bergamot and lemon. Evan relaxed into the sensation, happily losing himself in the feeling. “We love him. We want to be with him. And that’s a good thing.”
“We should probably say something about that.” Evan grinned up at him. “It will go a long way toward convincing him we’re on the level.”
“You’re right.” Nick sipped from his tea again. Evan watched his Adam’s apple bob as he swallowed. “We’ll talk to him tonight. But we have to make sure we don’t trash the uncle. He takes his relationship with that uncle very seriously. It’s important we do too.”
