“El gave it to me, so I could protect myself when I couldn’t transform.”
“She cares for you a great deal,” Alec mused, his breath catching as he remembered the uncertainty of the egg they shared.
Tuxtax offered him a mug, cupping his own hand over the elf’s shaking fingers to guide the liquid to his lips.
Alec nodded in thanks. He took a few weak sips, then yawned.
“I hope it’s not poisoned. Arnath gave it to me to give to you when you woke. He said you would recover once I got rid of all my metal.” Tuxtax took an anxious breath. “You are going to recover?”
Alec nodded. “I’ll be fine. You’ve met Arnath? What did you…how do you…El said that a merman nearly killed you! Are you going to be all right with my brother being a merman?”
“I’m not going to lie, he’s a bit terrifying to look at, at first. But I’m sure I’ll get used to him in time. After all, he is family.”
