Chapter 28

“Wow! I never knew you possess fire magic.”

“I don’t,” Galen responded immediately. “Or rather, I didn’t. I still can’t figure out how the fire started.”

Dion raised both of his eyebrows. “That doesn’t sound reassuring, but Odon must have recommended you to Marzanna for an important reason.”

“I guess,” Galen said. “If I can’t annihilate that ancient demon, I must at least attempt to force it back to the mortal plane.”

“Isn’t that more dangerous?” Dion inquired. “For the living humans, I mean.”

“In a way,” Galen admitted. “But the mortal plane is a neutral ground. The occupants of the underworld and the ones in heaven have equal access to it. If the ancient demon stays down here, I won’t know what it’s up to because I don’t have the ability to see all the way into this realm and the one further south.”
