In one night I come out to my parents and break up with my boyfriend. And then the hard part starts. Casey is my oldest friend, and I move in with him after my breakup. I chilled there, unpacking the basics for me to sleep there that night before I took off to Casey’s apartment. But then I got antsy, so I went shopping.


I went downtown, where there were lots of little independently owned shops. I decided to splurge, and I bought a large painting to hang on my wall. Then I went to the local paint store and grabbed some sample colors. Sure, it was only a rental, but I wanted to decorate it for the time I was going to be there.


I’d also decided to buy a new car the first day I got back. It’s amazing what you can do when you don’t have to worry about money. But I didn’t get a Porsche or anything. I liked my old car just fine, so I got a newer model guaranteed to start on the first try.
