“It is, yes.” Harun smiled again. “And I’m glad you’re here, Kelwyn. I’m glad you found a place in the Queen’s Own.”
“If I did, it was because of you,” was Kelwyn’s instant reply.
Harun shook his head. “I’ve given you a chance, perhaps, but it’s your own skill that has allowed you to seize it.” He smiled as he added, “I shall not pretend that I approve of your desire to take that which does not belong to you, yet I cannot deny the talent you have for such things.”
Kelwyn shrugged. “At least half of it’s just ‘cause I’m an avian, that gives me an advantage.”
“Perhaps. But I feel that you’ve only begun to develop your potential. I think you will do great things someday, Kelwyn.”
“I dunno about that. But I’m glad I could join the Queen’s Own. I’m glad I’ve had this chance. And…I’m very glad I’ve had a chance to meet you.” He put his hand back over Harun’s, and saw the other man’s cheeks flush, but Harun didn’t pull his hand away.5
