Chapter 62

They’d made camp in a dense patch of scrub oak, short trees that grew closely together, so it didn’t take long to get out of sight of the fire. They threaded their way through the shadowed trees until they were a good distance from even the least glimpse of firelight. Kelwyn could see in the dark like never before now, so he took the lead. Harun had good night vision in his feline form, but he kept his human shape, which was just as well.

Kelwyn found himself wondering, as he walked, what it would be like to make love to Harun as a fire-lion. It seemed like it might not work, and might be far too strange, but he was curious all the same. He put that thought aside for now, though and halted, well out of sight—and out of hearing—of those still gathered around the fire.
