The glowing globe that Velanis had conjured to light their way flared brighter as he floated it into the center of the cavern, clearly illuminating everything, save for the stark black shadows that the stone pillars cast. Also stark black were the mouths of half a dozen other tunnels leading into the cavern.
“Wow.” Kelwyn’s voice echoed faintly back from the far walls as he said what everyone else was thinking. He could fly in here, it was that big.
“Ah, I don’t want to alarm anyone,” said Eldin, “but there’s something coming down the stairs behind us. Several somethings.”
Kelwyn, meanwhile, noticed motion in one of the black cave mouths. “There’s something over there too,” he called out, and a moment later a zombie came stumbling out into the cavern. It moved with jerky, unnatural motions, but it wasn’t shuffling, it was fast, which was very, very worrying. More worrying was that several more emerged behind it, and there was motion in some of the other cave mouths.
