“What does that mean?”

“Means I don’t know,” Andrea said. “Besides, it’s better to get into a high testosterone environment. Sex, anger, jealousy—that gets the wolf juices flowing. I know; let’s go to Roger’s. There’s bound to be a couple of people on that list there, and it’s definitely a high octane environment between the cheap booze and bimbos.”

The only bar in town was exactly the type of place Josh avoided. Too many tough guys trying to impress some half-dressed, half-in-the-tank women. Josh feared the women almost as much as the men. It was also Bryce’s favorite hangout and pick-up joint.

“I don’t know,” he said. “Maybe we should just pick up the trail tomorrow.”

“Don’t be a sissy.”

This time the insult wasn’t given in the same lighthearted good nature as the last time. It was a challenge.

“I’ll protect you.” Andrea wrapped her arm around him and batted her eyelashes. “No one’s going to lay a finger on my man.”
