Chapter 69

It wasn’t until the path opened up on the forest that Josh realized he wasn’t the only one seeking answers.

“It didn’t work. What do I have to do to end this? I should be alpha.”

Bryce paced in front of the boulder.

“I did what you told me, and he’s still stronger than me.”

Other than Josh, there was no one else in the clearing. Josh couldn’t even see anyone one else in the forest. Bryce was ranting at the rock. His face was flushed and his arms waving wildly as he shouted. He had lost it, and Josh wasn’t going to hang around to suffer the consequences of it. Bryce’s eyes focused on the empty mid-distance as he ranted. It reminded Josh of how Andrea’s gaze would focus on nothing when she got distracted. At least she didn’t talk to her imaginary friends.

“Tell me what I need to do to be stronger.”
