“You’re right. It’s my fault.” Bryce reached into his pocket and pulled out a couple of hundred dollar bills. He approached Ned slowly until he was within an arm’s length. “How much to let them off on a warning?”

“That didn’t work when I caught you with that buck out of season.” Ned reached for the cuffs that would have been on his belt had he been in uniform, only to come up empty. “And it isn’t going to work now.”

Bryce was only counting on getting close enough. The first slash caught the ranger in the gut. Bowels unfolded like snakes and tumbled to the ground. Ned grabbed at the wound and stumbled backwards.

“Fuck yeah!” Dyno cheered.
