Chapter 72

“There you are.” Andrea plopped down beside him.

“I’ve been looking for you everywhere.”

Josh looked at her over the rim of his coffee cup. The near-boiling acrid liquid burned his tongue and kept it in check. He studied her features and found no trace of shame or regret. It was as if she had done nothing wrong, as if maybe she had been looking everywhere for him. Only he knew that wasn’t true.

“I’m leaving,” he said, with some measure of control. There was no point in getting into an argument. Andrea would only twist her words and make it sound like she’d slept with Gavin to help Josh.

“What about your alpha?”

“There’s no one left,” Josh said. “Where were you last night?”

Andrea straightened in her seat.

“I can explain,” she sounded desperate. “Like you said, there was no one left. I managed to track down the last people on our list. Not a one had enough Silverbane blood in them to make them werewolves. And I provoked them. Believe me.”
