As much as he hated his pack, at least he hadn’t faced his beast, as meek as it was, on his own. His mother and Silverbane were always there for him. Gavin was all alone, a freak in his own eyes. That was a feeling Josh knew all too well. He was a freak in his own right for so many other reasons. He was omega, and he was drawn to men. Those were his horrible shames.

“Is that why you want to be in the back country?” He sat beside Gavin. “So no one would know about your transformations?”

Gavin looked at Josh in a way that left him feeling more vulnerable than he’d ever felt before.

“Yes.”

There was a bond between them that was unlike anything Josh had ever experienced. He wanted to reach out to Gavin and hold him, to feel his nakedness against his own. Josh feared rejection, but the need to connect physically was so strong that it threatened to explode from inside him if he didn’t act.
