Chapter 27

It was Saturday afternoon and they were walking in what was quickly becoming Renée’s favorite garden patch after the one at SearchLight. The reason she liked the one in the SearchLight compound was because it had several little places; the Japanese-style rock garden was her favorite, although the one with all the flowers growing in neat rows was a close second.

This park was filled with flowers and bushes that bloomed. Renée and Jenny walked, hand in hand, down the paths without fear of harassment. Not because Florida was such of a much when it came to LGBTQ rights, but because they couldn’t imagine being bothered here. It was mostly empty; that was one thing. And there was a gay rights flag flying near the entrance, not quite as high as the state flag, but noticeable.

When they approached a bench, Renée suggested they sit down. She was tired; she kept yawning.
