“We’ve had a very busy night. Always do on New Year’s Eve. The damn fools drive drunk and innocent people wind up like your friend and his parents.” The orderly was still mumbling about drunken fools when he left the room. Bobby closed his eyes and Jason and Zach went to get coffee.


Before Zach left, Keith quietly asked him to call Marla his housekeeper, to clean the place as soon as she was able. He meant to have it spotless before they got there. Keith didn’t want Jason to see all of the empty bottles of booze sitting on every flat surface.


Bobby opened his eyes as the doctor walked into the room. “I’m going to release you, but you can’t be alone.”


“He’s coming home with me. Jason and Zach are bringing back some coffee. Is he allowed to have caffeine?”
