Chapter 32

“I’ll get the ibuprofen,” the nurse said realizing she was intruding on a private moment. The nurse left the room and was back in five minutes with the pills and a cup of water. Bobby downed the pills.

“Keith, I have to put my head back down until the pills work. It’s pounding and sore where the lump is.” Bobby winced in pain.

“You have stitches.” Bobby put up his hand to his head and felt the gauze.

“I don’t remember anything except the ambulance, you lying beside me and the doctor telling me my parents were dead. The rest comes and goes like random frames from a video.”

“Your brain doesn’t want you to remember yet. You will eventually.” Bobby tried to nod his head and grimaced.

“Were Jason and Zach here?” Bobby asked. He apparently didn’t trust his memory.

“Jason and Zach were here all night. I told you they had gone for coffee. Reggie and Edith came by and then went back to your parents’ house to put away the food and straighten up.”

“Oh shit, the party…”
