Chapter 8

Mark hesitated, then said, “Why don’t you have some of this coffee with me? It’s early. Do you have to go to work?”

“I’m off today. The company I work for gives us Good Friday and the first two days of Passover off from work. Passover starts Monday so I don’t have to work today, Monday, and Tuesday. I’d love to have coffee if you’re sure you don’t mind. I didn’t bring you the coffee to push myself on you.”

“I realize if that were your intention, you would have called and invited me upstairs. Come in.”

Reggie came into the sunny kitchen. He saw the way the light hit the windows. “This place used to be pretty dark when Bobby was here. I’m glad I replaced the wood paneling with sheetrock, painted it a light color and put in more windows.” Mark brought out the coffee mugs and two plates and Reggie sat down at the table.

“So what are you doing today?” Mark asked Reggie surprised that he cared enough to want to find out. Mark took a sip of the coffee. “Good coffee.”
