“I can show you the estimates if you don’t believe me,” Reggie answered, and Mark blushed because he was embarrassed at his own skepticism.

“It’s not that I don’t believe you, it’s that I don’t want charity. I want to make it on my own.” Mark’s face set in a stubborn line.

“There is not accepting a handout, then there is being ridiculous about it to the detriment of your health. There are times when you have to let go of stubborn because people care about you. I didn’t pay full price for this place, even though I could have afforded it. I would have had to put off some of the remodeling, but I could have hacked it on my salary alone, but Bobby wouldn’t let me. At the time, I wasn’t sure if I had gotten out with my trust fund intact even though I told the guys otherwise.” Reggie bit into his croissant.

Mark frowned at the mention of trust funds.
