“What’s wrong, my—”

“His name is Julian, as I told you at the entrance before, and if you can’t behave, Jean, I’m gonna have to ask you to leave.”

“Don’t be ungrateful now.”

“No.” Harris threw his hand up. “Not listening.” He leaned in closer. “I’m gonna buy back my shares from you as soon as I can. I’m gonna regain complete control of my company.”

“Of course you are,” Mineau said, to his surprise. “I always knew you would. When you set your sights on a goal, you don’t back down.” He winked. “Now, come on, walk around the room. Mingle. People are here for you, not the perfume. It’s you they want.”

“I don’t mingle.” Harris walked away.

With a worried expression, Jude was watching him making his way to him. “What happened?” he asked, right off, the moment they were together again.

“Never mind.” Harris slipped the flute out of Jude’s hand. “Nothing I can’t handle.”

Jude rolled his eyes and scoffed a little.
