“I suspected that. He wouldn’t have told you that, he’s too shy. So, we’ve established he needs a cash allowance for clothes, food, and gas for his Corolla. I’d replace it if he were mine. Out there in the country, it’s too dangerous to drive a rust bucket, but that’s up to you.”

Gary gave Bear the stink eye. “Of course I’ll replace it. I wouldn’t be taking a boy if I couldn’t afford him.”

“To make it easier, I’ll take the rent money directly from you. I’ll include the utilities in the rent. It should cost you around seven hundred and fifty a month for the house. I can give you a deal on it because it lies on the edge of my property and I like to know who lives there.” Bear smiled and made more notes.

“I can buy him a medical insurance policy, but as you know, they are expensive. Normally, he’d get a subsidy, but since he can’t declare his income, he’ll have to pay the full freight.” Gary nodded soberly.
