Chapter 51

The rest were scarily simple. In less than a minute, she, Ares, and Mariel were the only three left breathing.

Anicka flipped over the edge of the railing to drop to the barrels below. As she approached Mariel, the other woman looked past her shoulder, her gaze fixed on Ares.

“I can’t say I’m surprised you tagged along with her,” Mariel said to him. “Though I can’t say I didn’t hope.”

Anicka spoke before Ares could. “He’s here because I want him here. You should know that by now.”

The sound of Mariel’s snort was thick and wet. “You always did stop using common sense when he was around.”

“The same could be said for you.” She came to a halt in front of her, feeling Ares at her back. “You look like shit, Mariel. What happened?”
