Chapter 14

“I would go with you,” Dane said, his voice almost as soft as the breeze on Guy’s face. “But only if you let me take you to Rome. And I’ve always wanted to see Austria.”

“What would we do in Rome?” Guy’s voice matched Dane’s.

“We would ignore all the tourist traps. We’d find the little out of the way cafes, and tiny, corner restaurants. I’d treat you to the finest wine we could find. We’d go to the Spanish Steps for each sunset.”

“Is it nice on the Spanish Steps?”

“It’s beautiful there. Full of people, though.”

“It’s weird, you know. I may have been there before. It seems possible. I hate not knowing.”

“We haven’t gone through all of your pictures yet. And you could call your family. They’ll be happy to remind you of everything.”

“I bet Oliver would know.”

“He might.” There might have been a catch in Dane’s voice, but Guy wasn’t sure.

“It seems wrong to call him.”

“Why?”
